You can now buy weed, very much the same way you buy munchies! Terrapin Dispensary in Aurora Colorado launched one of the first compliant cannabis dispensing vending machines in the USA.

The dispensary installed an Automated Cannabis Experience (ACE) machine, a substantial device that allows clients to order cannabis products using a touch screen and dispenses them ready roll!

In collaboration with the Canadian vending machine manufacturer BMC Universal Technologies, Terrapin Care Station created ACE, which it claims to be the first completely automated cannabis kiosk on the market.

HOW IT WORKS?

Consumers simply step up to the machine, scan a photo ID, and utilize a touch screen to browse the menu and fill their virtual basket. The vending machine can hold up to 1,100 items, and since it is chilled, customers can buy concentrates that must be kept at a specific temperature as well as edibles, flower, edibles, vape oil cartridges, and other products.

Customers who are ready to check out pay with cash because the machine doesn’t accept debit cards yet, and then observe through a 38″x30″ inch glass window as the vending machine grabs, bags, seals, and labels their item before dispensing it just like a regular snack or candy bar.

The company installed an Automated Cannabis Experience (ACE), a fully branded machine that allows clients to order cannabis product using a touch screen and dispenses them ready to be taken home. In collaboration with the Canadian vending machine manufacturer BMC Universal Technologies, Terrapin Care Station created ACE, which it claims to be the first completely automated cannabis kiosk on the market.

The dispenser was first introduced by a Colorada based startup at the MJBizCon trade event in November 2022, and it was quite impressive.

COMPLIANCE AND AUTOPACKAGING

The cannabis vending machine is integrated with Metrc the seed-to-sale cannabis tracking system used by multiple states to ensure compliancy. There has been other attempts to launch cannabis vending machines but many short lived due to compliance issues, lack of use and longer checkouts.

This new age machine checks id, grabs products, seals bags and places a verification sticker on each order, making for a speedy, contactless purchase.

In 2023 many cannabis retail operations are experiencing staffing issues, rapid employee turnover and an overall lack of staff. Adding an automated checkout experience may help augment gaps and help reduce expenses. If it catches on it could REVOLUTIONIZE the entire industry and pop up in places we’d never imagine. Can’t wait!! 🙂
